Doing What You Do
I was writing with a friend who was having a hard believing what she did was important anymore, and I just began to see this truth unfold: What you're doing matters.
It matters whether or not anybody sees, anybody is affected by it, or anybody notices it. It really matters. Those things you're here to do are very important. They're important when you're in front of a group of people, and they're important if you never have a group of people.
I think more often than not, God does His/Her work through people. And that's why it's important to keep doing it because you just never really know what it's affecting.
I have this picture of David sitting in his fields, tending to his sheep choosing to be David all alone, choosing to sing his songs with just an audience of one (and probably several hundred sheep). But nonetheless, I believe what he was doing had power. I think we can see the truth in that because have copies of some of them that we get to read, but I think they had power even if they were never even printed. I think it was just as important for David to be David when he was all alone as it was when David became a king. I really believe it had just as much impact on the earth--we maybe just couldn't connect it.
And I think that's true for you, too. I think you gotta just keep being you--even if you never see the influence that it's making. It really does matter.
