Importance of Boundaries
I'm thinking of talking on the topic of boundaries for a couple of weeks. I love this idea of grasping the importance of boundaries.
Boundaries have been important since the beginning of time. You see boundaries everywhere in the creation of this beautiful planet. Boundaries are so very important because if we didn't have them, we would quite literally die. And we see this play out in natural disasters; when they are crossed, harm ensues, destruction occurs.
With that said, boundaries are the very literal wisdom of God. There is a verse in Proverbs that says: I (wisdom) was there when He set the limits of the seas, so they would not spread beyond their boundaries. And when He marked off the Earth's foundations, I was the architect at His side.
I believe it's time to start setting personal boundaries in a major way. Personal boundaries are a necessity. We live in a bit of a confusing culture. We're taught to be nice, especially if you're female. We're pushed so hard to be nice that our internal security system gets numbed out and shut up. It's dangerous. We need boundaries.
When you've pushed down that internal voice for so long, you kind of have to train your ear to hear again. Let that voice be the loudest voice again because we need it. It communicates important stuff to us all of the time.
For this week, let's marinate in that voice. I'm going to be building on this topic, but the very first vital part is turn your security system back on, listen to it, and act on what it has to say. It's usually right.
When boundaries are crossed, it is important to rise up and take action. It's not allowed, and there is usually work to do following. As you all well know, a major boundary was crossed in Texas. If you haven't already, I'm going to give you a chance to give and make a stance that we stand together in these times. I'm attaching a link to Red Cross (where I gave) if you've been looking for a way to help but didn't know how. Just click here.
