Tending Toward Hope
Hope is kind of the fuel that keeps us going forward. If we don't have hope, if we don't have expectation, then we can kind of sink into a sort of darkness and sadness.
In particular, we are getting into the months that many people tend to get a whole lot sadder. I think the key to staying above the darkness is to look toward the future with a heart full of hope. Refuse to let your beliefs of "I am always depressed in Winter," be your truth anymore.
No matter what side of the fence you are on, I think we can all agree that there's a sadness going on right now. We have to arise and stand and believe. Our future has good things in store. Our future is not going to just happen to us; we will play active roles in making this place a beautiful and hopeful place to live.
My challenge today is for you to make a list. Write down all of your dreams and plans that stirs something inside of you. Open that list every single day and let that hope get kindled more every time you read them.
There is hope, my friends. The lie is that there is not. The lie is that life just happens to us. The lie is that everything is bad. The truth is we play a huge part. The truth is there are lots of happy things ahead and happy things even now.
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is the tree of life.
