Arms Wide With Love

Arms Wide With Love

What if instead of hiding and slinking back, we start to spread our wings and take people with us? What if our responsibility is to engage and invite but not coerce and entice? What if we are able to sweep people along but give them the choice to stray away?

You see, I think many people are on a forward journey. They're ever-moving, ever-steady. And I think part of the job when in the flow is to bring people along, not drag them behind. I think whenever we invite people along, there's always a sincere freedom attached to it to decline.

But I think we gather. We bring in. We keep close. We love hard. And march steadily on and in the flow of where we know we need to go. But we have an openness to understand not everyone wants to be on the same journey and not everyone is ready for change.

If someone accepts the invitation but is catching up, I think we adjust our pace to give them a break in an already heavy adjustment. In these moments, we hold the power to make things less hard, less complicated, to lighten the load.

I think we are called to keep our arms outstretched to either side, scooping up people along the way. And I think that our arms won't tire because it won't be just our strength; it will be the strength of you and me together, hand-in-hand with the divine.
