Rocky Falls, Missouri

Rocky Falls, Missouri

A couple of weekends ago, Halley and I joined up and went on a jaunt with my littles, our sweet Jayd, and our Nan. We visited a couple of places, but Rocky Falls stole my heart.

You see, many people have a lot of negative to say about Small Town, Missouri. I beg to differ. Gratitude is what I feel about my upbringing and the sweet town I call home. Are there negatives? Absolutely. But this is true of any place I've lived.

You know, anybody can inventory the gloomy things about the towns in which they live, but it takes a special soul to see the beauty right where they are. Seeing the adverse is the easy part of life. The inspiring see what others overlook and enlighten the people around them. Because truth be told, you probably won't really be happy anywhere because being happy where you are is a heart issue, not a geography issue.

You're a slave to that which you give your energy. Your experience is going to be where your mind is. It will never change until it's redirected. Or as Steve Maraboli says, "You're frustrated because you keep waiting for the blooming of flowers of which you have yet to sew the seeds."

Each day I am thankful that I am surrounded by a community that wishes to enrich and make the place we live better, that beauty envelops my every turn, that comfort and safety is outside my doorstep. For that, I call myself blessed. And I will bloom where I'm planted as they say.

So here's to Rocky Falls which adds joy to my life.
