Prayer
This past weekend my family had a conversation about what prayer is, and it stirred something inside of me. Prayer is a connection of your heart to God's. It's really just that simple.
It's unfair to try to define what prayer actually looks like for somebody else, because I think it's different and the same for people. Your heart has some things it needs to say-- sometimes it's rage, sometimes it's concern, and sometimes it's gratitude. Prayer is connecting to that and expressing it.
And it doesn't just have to be the "godly" stuff. There are songs, on a regular basis, that I connect with on a deep level. And I understand that when I am moved like that by a song, it becomes a prayer, confiding what needs to come out of my heart. The same movement comes from artwork, poetry, walks, and words. I experience prayer in all sorts of ways, and I think He's creative like that.
Refuse to feel shame about the way your prayer comes out. Explore and enjoy the goodness of who He is. Be outraged. Be overcome. Be extravagant. Be elated. Just connect.
Photo Story: This photo was taken on a hike in McDowell Mountain Preserve. It is beautiful. There isn't a deep meaning being the photo, but it was a meaningful hike. I spent it with three people I love very much, and we were able to connect in a way that hadn't happened in a very long time. Life gets busy, especially with little ones. Nonetheless, I love this photo because I love the memories.
